The Power of Peace and Life
Coming to grips with the modern world
A Summer Sanctuary

This Summer Sanctuary, 2007, is the most important workshop we have done for years. World peace and the viability of the planet are at risk and this state of affairs affects all of us, every day of our lives.
Learn how we can all do a great deal to promote the world conditions we want and how to deal directly with what is harming our planet.
Come and learn to claim the power available within you, power available in everyone, and learn to release this power for the good of all.
The Goal
The challenge we face right now as citizens of the world is what to do. What we need to figure out is how to act effectively. We desperately need to learn how to produce the peace and planetary conditions we cherish and require in order to survive.
Clearly, it simply doesn’t work to respond in kind towards those who would harm us, or to continue dealing with the planet as we are; for everything we do like this invites more of the same, or directly makes matters worse.
Yet, what are the alternatives?
For many, adopting peaceful approaches is seen as weak and ineffective, especially when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles such as the danger of terrorism that is spreading around the globe increasingly.
Similarly, in relation to the environment, concerned individuals can easily despair of influencing powerful governments and other agencies who are significantly responsible for poisoning the environment.
Main Areas Covered
In this workshop, we plan to learn how to meet worldly strength with the inner strength of peace and life. We will practise how to embrace and release the profound power of peace in our systems and learn how to deal effectively as individuals with real threats to what we hold dear. We will also practise unleashing the living essence of our-selves in order to release forms of aliveness that can influence the world into caring for our shared planetary home.
We will consider how we deal with real threats, whatever they are; how we can reach people who are seemingly unavailable to us; how we can influence those who are intent on disturbing us and our world; and how to divert those who want to kill us or destroy our planet.
True peace is to violence, and true aliveness is to planetary destruction, as light is to darkness.
We turn on a light and darkness disappears;
introduce true peace and violence evaporates;
saturate the world with true life and destructiveness dissolves.
This workshop will be a celebration of life and living, and the claiming and using of the power each of us has at our disposal. There will be many exercises and discussions designed to enable us to grapple with these fundamentally important issues and to discover that we have much of what we need right inside ourselves. We will also share our personal experiences of acting alone and consider what we could do by joining together.
Very importantly, we will highlight how, by acting in simple ways each day, we can create an inexorable force for good.
Everyone will have ample time for relaxation, fun and preparing for the year ahead. As in the past, this Summer Sanctuary program will take everyone through an unfolding sequence of meditations, exercises and discussions that will build gradually until the end.
Areas covered in the workshop include:
- Realising the intensity of life
- Experiencing true peace
- Promoting healing and aliveness
- Owning the parts we play
- Dealing effectively with challenge
- Changing ourselves to change the world
- Taking stands, not forcing or fighting
- Linking the world and the Divine.

The Leaders
Ken & Elizabeth Mellor have dedicated their lives to realising the Ultimate Goal. Every aspect of what they do is matched with this goal to ensure as much as they can that they are continually realising more of what it will take to complete their quests.
For over thirty-five years, each has worked variously as spiritual mentors, meditation teachers, educators, and psychotherapists. Willing to explore any aspect of life, they have extensive knowledge and experience in both the spiritual and practical.
Their teaching is clear, simple, practical and down-to-earth. Thousands of people have attended their work-shops internationally.
Particularly noted for their capacities to help people integrate the Sublime with worldly living, they live the ease, intensity and availability that go with a spiritual life, well grounded in the real world. Known as Urban Mysticism, their approach has wide appeal to everyday people living in the modern world.
Both are professionally trained social workers. Elizabeth is a trained rehabilitation counsellor and Ken is a trained psychotherapist. They each began work in the late 1960s and began working together in the late 1970s. Through the 1980s, they experienced profound spiritual awakening, a result of intense and broad-ranging training as Meditation Masters. They have trained in Australia, India & other countries in how to promote Awakening. They are also Reiki Masters.
Ken & Elizabeth have written several books, including:
- Oscar’s Way, Elizabeth Mellor (Biame Network Inc., Seymour, Australia, 2005)

Masterhood Workshop
There are Masters in many trades: master plumbers, master cooks, master masons, master builders. Amongst chess and Qigong exponents, there are masters and grand masters. These people are established experts in their trades or skill areas. They usually teach their trade to others. There are also masters of the "trade" of Being, or “personhood”.
Often known in the West as Masters, or Masters of Meditation, these people have proven expertise in the blend of practices that help release personal growth and spiritual awakening.
Masterhood, the result of the engaging in the practices that Masters teach, is the birthright of all. It is in us already and we will all experience it one day. It is definite. It is obvious. Love, power and wisdom are at Its roots. We become beautiful, alive, creative, secure, fragrant, bright, harmonious, and sweet the more we realise whatever this "state" is.
The realisation of Masterhood transforms our lives completely, while at the same time we stay the same in all essential ways. We become fully who each of us is. Without Masterhood, people continue to drift, to be lost and alone. Life is without real purpose and real joy. With Masterhood, everything has meaning and beauty. Everything is saturated with joy.
Come to the workshop and expand your Masterhood in the company of others who are dedicated to complete Realisation.
Also, come to the workshop to experience the benefits of spending time with two Masters of Meditation whose own realisation can help ours directly, simply by our spending time with them.

Into the Silence, Stillness & Transparency Workshop
The direct experience of Life is utter silence, complete stillness and total transparency. In this state discover our Selves as we truly are. The hunger or thirst to do this is powerful in everyone. Somewhere within we all know that our completion lies in Life. And to experience Life we need to connect with our Selves.
We do this by witnessing, experiencing and living all the layers of what we are. Some layers are open, alight, quiet and silent already. Some are not, however. They are filled with collected energies that produce noise, disturbance and cloudiness in our systems, and split us internally. The way to release ourselves from these collections is to experience whatever is there.
For it is through the direct experience of everything that we centre again in our Selves and find the Life that sustains us.
Practically, most of us don’t have the extended time that assists so greatly in making soul contact, nor do we have the silence, nor opportunities to concentrate on our own processes. This workshop makes all of these as available as possible during the six days.
Almost everything will be done in silence for six of the seven days. Half hour "talk breaks" are allocated for administration and for talking with participants who need to discuss their experiences. Silence and non-contact will be maintained overnight as well as during the day.
Instructions will provide guidance about the orientations recommended for each day. Ken & Elizabeth will hold silent darshan nightly.
Everything is designed to help Awakening and managing the intensity of that. The last day is for integrating what each participant has experienced and for planning steps to make re-entry into day-to-day life as easy as possible.
The workshop is fully residential. Everyone who attends is expected to stay at the venue, including the leaders. Contact with people outside the workshop is not allowed. Only those who can stay for the full seven days will be accepted.

Resolving Conflict

A very topical and ageless issue for humankind, conflict is something each of us faces. We all need to find ways to resolve conflicts, too. Meditation provides many effective tools to do just that. Using it, we can find peaceful and creative solutions to arguments, fights, mutual discontent, contention and the like.
The workshop is designed to help you to learn several simple ways to resolve conflicts, both inner and outer conflicts. The ease and relief we can find in life through learning these simple meditations is very great. You can do this learning, whether or not you have had previous experience with meditation.

Relaxed Living

Even in the most pressured of situations we can be balanced and relaxed. We can manage the outer demands of life and release ourselves from our tendencies to become tense and stressed. By coming to this workshop, you can learn to calm yourself, increase your balance an ease in your life generally, and become secure and poised.
The workshop will include many practical hints on how we can manage ourselves and the situations we face in life and remain relaxed and poised as we do.

Small Acts, Big Changes
Meditation is a wonderfully simple way to produce big changes in ourselves and our lives. Many simple meditations produce great benefits; complexity and difficulty are not a measure of effectiveness. In fact, the wonder of the meditations that are part of this workshop is just how little time and effort it takes to do them and still get very worthwhile results.
Maybe you’ve already wondered about trying meditation and never done anything about it, perhaps not knowing where to go, perhaps feeling too busy, perhaps put off by the accounts of others. Well, what about setting aside a day for yourself.
Come along and learn from two down-to-earth, practical teachers, Ken and Elizabeth Mellor, who have taught meditation for over twenty-five years and touched the lives of many people. They teach how attention to the moments in our lives to the small things make big differences.
They will introduce three main meditations. Each makes a different and important contribution to life; combined they bring a new blend of stability, ease and aliveness into everything:
- the first gives us access to inner sources of energy and vitality that make our lives much easier and more fulfilling
- the second enables us to relax deeply and fully, almost no matter what is happening with us at the time, and
- the last helps us to produce balanced thinking, feeling and physical states as we go about our daily lives.
These give us small steps capable of getting us to the end of long journeys, while adding almost nothing extra to do each day.
Lots of time will be made available for practising and discussion.

Thrive Don't Just Survive

The demands of the modern world faces us all with incredible challenges, which are more than most people can handle without serious damage, particularly over long periods. Yet, we expect and are expected to be able to keep living indefinitely like this.
But this is a powerful trap, because living like this cannot be sustained. This workshop is about springing the trap and about thriving as we live.
The lure to get us into the trap is the hope for easy lives filled with modern conveniences, social position, economic security and freedom. Fulfilling the needs for family, friends, personal development, leisure and spiritual fulfillment come a distant last in the material world of today. Yet, these are the needs that will eventually and inevitably trap us, for without fulfilling them, we are increasingly at risk of ill health, emptiness, exhaustion, dejection and, for some, early death. Our human systems are not designed to live like machines or computers.
To thrive in life, to live well in a sustainable sense, we need to nourish our beings as well as our bodies and bank accounts. Ken Mellor has over 25 years of experience in helping people to do this using meditation. Meditation helps us to succeed. It helps us to stop. It helps us to heal and sustain our physical, emotional and mental health. And, very importantly, it helps us to nourish ourselves through soul contact with the energy and abundance of the life we all have within. Three meditations will be the focus of the day:
- the first enables us to connect with center in the life force available within
- the second helps us to increase the flow and abundance of that life force through us
- the last helps us to keep shaping our lives so they are full of real abundance and fulfillment.
There will be lots of time for practise and discussion. Come along. You still have time, but maybe not as much as you think.
Lots of time will be made available for practising and discussion.

27th August, 2006
To keep on keeping on is important in any endeavour that takes time. Our early and subsequent efforts are all important and we need to persist in order to get the benefits of those efforts. As true as this is for things like planning a trip, saving for something we want, going to work every day to earn the money we need to survive, or raising children, it is true for the practice of meditation. Yet so often, even when we know what will work, we simply don’t do it often enough to get results.
The theme of this workshop is: “Keep doing what works”.
Meditation definitely works. We have the personal experience of millions of people through thousands of years to demonstrate this. These days, we also have modern research showing convincingly to Westerners just how powerful it is. Yet, as with many of those millions of people, we need to keep going, if we are to get the full benefits.
This workshop is about persistence, dealing with the interruptions or inhibitions to our motivation and about following through until we get the full fruits of our efforts. The leaders, Ken and Elizabeth Mellor, have taught meditation for many years. They have helped large numbers of people deal successfully with inner and outer invitations to give up, neglect, ignore, forget, or do half-heartedly what they know or hope will work.
Three meditations will set the themes for the day:
- the first will concentrate on recognising what people already know that will work for a meditation practice or in other areas of life
- the second is for programming ourselves to do what works, even in the face of our own reluctance
- the last empower us by showing learning something that works and then not using it is a natural way to teach us that is actually works and to take it up again.
There will be lots of time for questions and discussion.

Embracing the Source
(New Beginnings)
Meditation helps greatly with out daily lives. It helps us to have abundant energy, to stay in balance, to relax, to shape our destinies, to release ourselves from blockages and to nourish our systems with life energy. All of this is possible through simple daily practices.
This workshop is about how to integrate a daily practice into our lives so we get the real rewards, not just the poor returns on committed but partially understood performance. It is also about the value of setting special time aside to go more deeply into our practices.
Doing so is certainly important to our physical health and well being; and doing so is imperative for us to connect to the inner life available to us which bring us into alignment with Life itself.
Still over the horizon, maybe, yet living like this is a real outcome, provided we turn back to the Source within us and practise until we become that Source. In the process of doing this, we discover that every moment and every-thing is filled with beautiful energy and life, with wonderful consciousness and bliss.
Come along and learn from two down-to-earth, practical teachers, Ken and Elizabeth Mellor, who have taught meditation for over twenty-five years and touched the lives of many people.
Three meditations will form the backbone of this workshop:
- the first will help to hone our inner skills in discovering the reality of our inner or higher selves
- the second will aim at expanding these skills with more advanced practices
- the last will offer a simple set of steps for discovering that we are already saturated with Life and learning how to experience Life directly.
