Sublime Meditation

The purpose of these meditations is to provide two ways of realising aspects of our Transcendent Natures. The meditations are profoundly effective in doing this and can make very significant contributions to spiritual unfolding and fulfillment. They demonstrate how vast our human potential is and how, when we are released to experience it directly, our lives can be greatly transformed.

Many Benefits
Imagine what an injection of pure life force could do in your system, the healing, releasing, unfolding, growing and awakening it could produce. Imagine what would happen in you if you could be infused with a perfect balm that would correct whatever needed correcting, release whatever needed releasing, clear whatever needed clearing, fulfil whatever needed fulfilling ... The life force that these meditations help us to experience is like this; so the meditations provide two means of getting these benefits.

The Spiral Breathing Meditation helps us to distil our systems. Drawn from the ancient pranayama tradition, Ken Mellor was introduced to a variation of this meditation by Swami Krishna Gautam in the 1980s when he and his wife, Elizabeth, participated in a wonderfully awakening process of spiritual unfolding that he catalysed. Ken then modified it to the form it has here.

As the years progress, all of us tend to collect unfinished business: old feelings we didn’t digest or express at the time, old impulses and desire that we held onto, the remnants of past illnesses or injuries that are still held in the body and many other things. These increasingly congest us as they build up, inhibiting the natural flow of the life force through our systems as they do.

This meditation uses a special concentration on breathing to bring on a highly energised state. It can help lift our moods, free our thinking from worldly challenges and bring light into our lives.

The Spiral Breathing Meditation also helps us to distil all energies in our systems so that we become increasingly clear, transparent, harmonious, quiet, relaxed, alive, fresh and fragrant.

As the process progresses, we can experience:

• opening of consciousness

• increasing energy and vitality

• the expanding of our personal capacities

• purifying and amplifying of our perception

• increasing freedom to do many different things in our lives from which we were previously constrained

• letting go of specific reactions to events of the day

• the release of unnecessary inhibitions

• more and more direct contact with and participation in the Sublime.

The Dissolving into Light and Bliss Meditation helps us, as the name implies, to experience light and bliss. Using this we learn to “dissolve” internally so that all that we experience there becomes one with infinite light, love and bliss. Ken Mellor developed this meditation to help people who wanted to enhance their already established ways of doing this and to help those who could not do this to learn how.

As this distilling and dissolving processes occur many benefits can arise:

• we become more relaxed

• fulfillment and joy in life expand

• inhibiting history releases and is digested

• inner perception expands into other realms of experience

• we shift centre from unhappiness, negativity, unpleasantness ... to centre in light and bliss

• we change basic attitudes about ourselves and increase self-esteem

• we become radiant sources of love, life and joy

• we transcend and transform discomfort and disturbance

• we become flooded with ease, fragrance and sweetness

• light, love and joy become the enduring core of our ongoing experience

• we can enter the Samadhi state.

Using the Recording
Each of the meditations takes about half an hour, so you will need to set aside this amount of time to do them. In particular, the Spiral Breathing Meditation involves sitting or lying in a comfortable position, a position, nonetheless, in which you will stay awake and alert. You can do the Dissolving into Light and Bliss Meditation similarly; however, with this one, you can also listen to it as you go to sleep, which then requires no extra time out of your day.

All you do is to start the recording once you are settled where you plan to do it. You then follow the simple instructions. The more you do the meditations, too, the more familiar they will become. As you expand your experience of each of them, you can begin to understand the unfolding, evolving processes that they set in motion and to relish the changes you can observe taking place in you and your life.

As you persist, you will also almost certainly find that you can do each of them without using the recording. In fact, each of them can be done for only a few minutes at a time or, if you want to, for longer than the time taken by the recording. At the same time, after you get to this level with them, we recommend that you use the recording from time to time so that you remind yourself of the different steps. Each step is important and makes an important contribution to the overall results we can get.
