This is a meditation for helping people both feel and act powerfully. It helps us to claim our full capacities so that they are available to us day by day. Used in various ways for thousands of years, this version is easy to use and can produce results very quickly.
Many Benefits
People have used the meditation to help them in virtually every area of life. Whatever we are experiencing internally and whatever is going on around us can be involved. Also, your interests might be general or specific, practical or theoretical, simple or complicated, important or insignificant, worldly or spiritual.
The following examples can give you an idea of what the meditation can help you with.
• You partner in life is difficult to manage.
• The children are acting up and seem out of control.
• Everything seems to be getting too much.
• You compare yourself unfavourably to others, perhaps putting yourself down.
• You admire others very much, but don’t think you could ever by like that.
• You know how you would like to be, but you can’t seem to change as needed.
Stated generally, there are several general areas in which you can use it.
• You feel intimidated by people who seems too much for you to deal with.
They may seem too powerful, vocal, unavailable, intelligent, manipulative,
emotional, or something else for you to manage.
The “I AM” THAT Meditation helps you to do what you need to do.
• You know some people, or you notice others who have qualities that you would
like to have. Maybe they are more balanced, articulate, loving, persistent, healthy,
funny, patient, active or wealthy. Maybe they are less irritable, passive, easily distracted,
changeable or unhappy. Whatever the quality, the meditation can help you to develop it or
free yourself from it.
• Faced with external events that seem overwhelmingly powerful, you find yourself fearful, or
not thinking clearly about what you need to do. All the power you perceive is actually part of
your own power and the meditation can help you to claim that power and harness it for your use.
• You find yourself having difficulty managing certain feelings, impulses, desires and other
experiences. The meditation helps you to harness their power and deal with them.
• Life seems slanted in a particular direction and you want to change it. You tend to feel unhappy, critical, obstructive, or you see things as darkly or pessimistically, for example. The meditation can help.
• Then there are qualities, capacities or states of perception and being to which you aspire. You can use the meditation to help you to claim these for yourself and to realise them. Whatever you see, hear or feel that you admire in others you can claim as your own using the meditation.
This last use comes closest to perhaps the meditation’s most ancient use. It gives us a means of aligning and identifying with those parts of us that transcend our day-to-day lives. For example, when we experience openness, fullness, light, harmony, sweetness, or anything else that we would like to have endure, we can use the I AM THAT Meditation to help us to achieve this.
If we should notice other people with spiritual qualities to which we aspire, or notice inside ourselves spiritual figures and other experiences that could signal greater Awakening, we can us the meditation to help us to claim these as our own. With either source, the meditation helps us to sort what is ‘real’ from what is ‘unreal’ and to make the reality of these experiences an on-going part of our lives.
Using the Recording
The recording has two general parts: the Introduction and the Meditation. People generally get the best results when they listen to the Introduction before doing the Meditations. It contains important information that can help you to make sense of the steps of the Meditations itself. It explains how the process works.
We recommend that you listen to the Introduction before playing the Meditations itself. Then, after you have used the Meditations several times, listen to the Introduction again. You are likely to understand much more the second time through because you will then have some experience of your own to relate to and will be likely to understand the comments differently.
You are guided through the Meditations with step by step instructions. This makes it ideal for learning the meditation. After a bit of practice, too, you are likely to find that you can go through the process without using the recording. At this point, you will be able have to shorten your use of the Meditation to less than the half hour that the recording takes. In fact, most people find that they can complete the process in a few seconds or minutes, once they become experienced in doing it.
All the same, even after becoming very experienced, we recommend that you use the recording from time to time. Doing so helps to correct any habits that you may develop without knowing it that could block your success. In particular, we recommend that you return to the recording when your goals are highly charged, or when you are not succeeding as easily as you would like.
